I am a Clinical Psychologist and have been practicing for over a decade. I work with young people and adults and have extensive experience in assessment and management of issues that manifest in cognitive, emotional, behavioural and/or relationship difficulties , and the way these issues adversely impact one's quality of life and relationships.
My approach in therapy is person centered, which means that I work collaboratively with clients, to firstly help them understand what they want and need, and I use a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (know as CBT) to help my clients achieve greater awareness of their thoughts, the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, physiological reactions and subsequent behaviours.
I accept a broad range of referrals of clients with a variety of presenting concerns; however, I have particular experience and interest in working with clients who wish to address matters relating to -
Relationship difficulties (including marriage, family, partners, colleagues)
Effects of early childhood trauma (including childhood sexual abuse) in adult life
Depression- Dificulty managing emotions or mood swings, including anger
Anxiety
Work and study related pressure and a subsequent lack of motivation
My own philosophy is that we all have the capacity to the fullest, and we sometimes need a specialist to help us recognize our potential and to aid with coping better, and to assist us to work towards mindsets that help us feel more fulfilled and passionate.
I have qualifications in Clinical Psychology, and have published research in scientific journals examining the Physio-Kundalini Syndrome, Stress and Coping in Students and Students Attitudes to seeking Psychological assistance. I have also written for the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series.
