Play therapy is a form of counseling or psychotherapy that uses play to communicate with and help people, especially children, to prevent or resolve. Play therapy can help address stress, trauma, or behavioral issues. This therapy has been proven effective at treating the concerns of both children and adults. Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults.
Play therapy utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings. It's a technique whereby the child's natural means of expression, namely play, is used as a therapeutic method to assist him/her in coping with emotional issues. In a play therapy session, the child is encouraged to reveal feelings and conflicts in play, rather than in verbalisation, which may be too difficult for them.
