About me

Catherine is a psychotherapist who has been working for over 15 years in both public and private mental health. This has provided her with extensive professional experience and an understanding of the complexity of each individual within their personal environment.

Catherine believes that people are social and desire a connection with others, even if this can be difficult or feel near impossible. As a psychotherapist she practices on the basis that what has happened in the past has an impact on who we are now, and how we relate to others. In therapy, she works in the ‘here and now’, including within the therapeutic relationship, to gain an in-depth understanding of each person.Catherine believes that in a safe environment where clients are heard, listened to and acknowledged, individuals can begin to think and reflect on themselves, their emotions and behaviours. With developing awareness, motivation and therapeutic support, clients can make ongoing, positive internal changes to the way they perceive themselves and relate to others.

Using psychoanalytic theory as the framework that underpins her practice, Catherine is further guided by an intuitive understanding of people and relationships. She aims to facilitate clients to obtain a deeper understanding of themselves, in order to feel clearer and more confident in their own identity and have more meaningful relationships with others.
