About me

I offer telephone and online counselling Australia-wide (discounted), and home visits in Melbourne. A counselling room is also available in Essendon.

I have 10 years experience and also currently work as a senior counsellor for an established Melbourne-based organisation.

Safety

I have a current National Police Certificate, a Working With Children Check, and I attend monthly clinical supervision with a psychologist. Any session notes are securely stored, and everything is confidential, unless I have a duty of care to report it (e.g., safety risk, abuse, neglect, criminal activity).

Counselling style

My counselling delivery is warm, friendly and conversational – although of course I encourage you to do most of the talking! Generally, I try to keep the process as simple and engaging as possible, and encourage you to ‘steer the wheel’ as we navigate where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go. It is important to remember that it is sometimes my job to gently challenge you, in order to help move past any roadblocks you are experiencing. E.g., identifying unhelpful beliefs and finding new perspectives.

About

I am a family man, a relaxing person to be around, a good listener, and I have a genuine interest in and care for other people. Before studying psychology I completed a Bachelor of Business, but found office work unfulfilling. I came to psychology through a passion for talking with others on a personal level and through a scientific curiosity about the mind. When I am not with my family or working, I teach the guitar to local primary students and try to make time to travel. I also enjoy playing table tennis and walking the dog.

Experience

I have about 10 years of professional counselling experience and continue to work as a senior counsellor at an established Melbourne organisation. I have conducted hundreds of counselling sessions – both with ongoing and single-session clients.

Although I've worked with a wide range of presenting issues, a large part of my experience has involved improving relationships and lifestyle factors. Other major topics have included careers and feelings relating to depression and anxiety. I have also provided counselling programs specific to anger management.
