I have been practising as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor for more than 15 years, but have also extensive previous experience as a counsellor and body oriented somatic therapist in private and public practise.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are professional services that support people to develop better understanding of themselves and others, address life difficulties and make the changes they want in their lives.
Issues emerging in ourselves, our relationships, at work or ‘just living our lives’ can improve from reflection, inquiry and professional discussion.
It can be such a liberating experience to open up our private dialogues and to bring in another perspective, opening new ways of looking at ourselves. At the heart of the therapeutic work undertaken together, clients discover a stronger sense of identity, personal responsibility, self worth and empowerment that starts and forces them to the fulfilment of a wide range of personal goals.
My therapeutic approach is to provide a supportive and non judgemental atmosphere in which people can feel safe to explore and resolve their present difficulties. It is a process of inquiry into your thinking and feelings, believing that we all have within us some hidden wisdom about the causes and solutions to our sufferings.
My role in this process is to facilitate you. Holding and containing your process of unravelling while guiding and supporting you to access your own understanding and insights. There is no magic wand or quick fixes, but there is a way to resolve and make sense of emotional pain and distress, so we can manage life better.
For some people it might take only a few sessions to bring out relief.
For others although, drawing on experience, most problems are driven by conscious and unconscious unresolved issues stretching back to childhood, which are often intensified by life, work – or relationship issues. This might be a more transformative experience, which will need more time.
I strongly believe that a therapist can work better with the suffering and distress of others not only through professional and ongoing theoretical training, but also with a true knowledge of themselves.
I have undergone extensive Personal Therapy and undertaken many Professional Development workshops and trainings throughout the years. From this foundation I have developed an analytical, but unique and also holistic style, which is sensitively attuned to each individual client.
Psychotherapy can be an analytical process or a goal oriented attempt to resolve difficulties. But it is always an exploration into someone’s own deeper wisdom.
