Tony Africano is a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist and professional counsellor with particular interest in Jungian and Post-Jungian Analytical Psychology. He has been in private practice for over fifteen years, working with individual adults, couples and groups.
As part of the professional preparation undertaken for this kind of work he has undergone hundreds of hours of his own personal therapeutic process. From this foundation he has developed a professional style that is skilled, objective, compassionate and sensitively attuned to each individual client.
As a lecturer and teacher of trainee-therapists and counsellors, he currently holds a position on the faculty of The Perth School of Psychotherapy and Counselling. He has also formerly held both lecturer and ‘training committee’ positions with The Churchill Clinic Inc. As a senior psychotherapist, Tony offers clinical-supervision to trainees and professionals across a wide range of mental health and allied fields.
Tony’s entrance into the healing profession has been a result of his own personal journey and training over the past twenty years. He believes that a practitioner is best placed to deal with the suffering and distress of others by not only having undergone sound theoretical training but also via thorough knowledge of themselves.
